Uruguay is in the early stages of developing a Blue Schools program in partnership with the NGO Vida Silvestre. Blue Schools Uruguay will seek to build on existing initiatives, focusing efforts and standardizing the approach to ocean literacy in Uruguay. The first step will include formalizing Blue Schools Uruguay through a workshop aimed at educators to increase their participation in the program by developing their ocean literacy skills and supporting the design of curriculum and local projects. Next, the program will look to invite public and private schools to join and create a Uruguayan Blue Schools network in order to share their own ocean related projects and exchange experiences. Blue Schools Uruguay will also work on developing class materials and curated project ideas to facilitate the implementation of ocean literacy in new schools across the country.
