Nigeria launched the Blue Schools Network in 2022 through the ASTRAL (All Atlantic Ocean Sustainable, Profitable and Resilient Aquaculture). ASTRAL is a Horizon 2020 project with the objective to create social awareness of seafood for the future. The school campaign targeted primary and secondary school students in Nigeria, involving schools across 3 states (Lagos, Ogun, and Oyo) and will be expanded to all Nigeria in the future. These schools were adopted as ASTRAL schools forming ASTRAL School clubs to make learning fun outside the regular curriculum.
