Creating an Atlantic Ocean Community by Implementing the Galway and Belém Statements
LANG:
UK

The UK Blue Schools network is in its early stages as a pilot based in North Wales. Schools across the region are invited to join the Blue Schools Network and explore a topic of their choice over an academic term, with inspiration and support from marine scientists and NGOS.  Our goal is to encourage ocean literacy in the curriculum, using marine scientist connections, established resources and marine projects that we sign post them to.

The UK coordinators are also working on the All-Atlantic Blue Schools Online Series with Ireland, USA and Canada.  This is an exciting pilot of live international online events which join together schools anywhere around the Atlantic through shared marine topics, experience, science and stories. These interactive fun sessions, led by experts from around the region, aim to inspire the schools to pursue their marine activities and conservation actions over the following month, after which they are invited to showcase their work and experiences at a second online workshop. If you are interested in getting involved, register here (note these are English language events).

All schools involved, be it local or online, will exchange marine science experiences with Blue Schools from other countries in the All-Atlantic Blue Schools Network enriching the educational and cultural experience across the Atlantic.

We are always pleased to discuss future developments of the programme with other marine educators for future All-Atlantic Blue Schools Collaborations within the UK or around the region.
